QUALIFICATIONS:                      

       As a minimum, an Associates Degree, 48 college credits, or successful completion of the Paraprofessional examination.  Preference given to those with related experience. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Kent County Public Schools may find appropriate

JOB GOAL:                                      To provide media center support services under the
                                                            Direction of the Media Resource Teacher
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  1. Support the philosophy, goals and objectives of Kent County Public Schools and strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  2. Participate in training sessions pertaining to library/media related skills and responsibilities, as well as other related opportunities.
  3. Implement activities for students developed by Media Resource Teacher.
  4. Maintain current knowledge of computer hardware/software related to media center programs and procedures, including Library Pro automation system
  5. Organize materials in the library media center for quick and easy storage, access, retrieval and use and assist in the selection, evaluation, and acquisition of new materials
  6. Update media resource teacher and principal on the status of current job-related projects and/or needs
  7. Prepare reports and collect data that effectively document and interpret school library media program
  8. Promote special events, create displays and activities to encourage reading and effective use of the school library media center
  9. Cooperate and collaborate with faculty members in order to promote a climate that encourages students, staff, and community to take full advantage of the school library media center and its resources.
  10. Demonstrate an understanding of assigned tasks and an ability to work independently when necessary and in collaboration with other groups.
  11. Perform other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:       Daily as assigned.
